Syensqo and Vartega Forge Partnership to Advance Circular Economy for Carbon Fiber Composites

On March 5, 2026, Syensqo, a global leader in advanced materials, and Vartega, a pioneer in carbon fiber recycling technologies, announced a technical and commercial collaboration to jointly build a circular utilization ecosystem for carbon fiber composites, promote the sustainable development of high-performance carbon fiber materials, and help global manufacturing achieve carbon neutrality goals.

This collaboration focuses on the efficient recycling and high-value reuse of post-industrial carbon fiber waste. Syensqo will supply dry carbon fiber and prepreg waste generated from its North American production bases to Vartega. Vartega will convert this waste into high-quality EasyFeed Bundles™ recycled carbon fiber through its patented recycling process, which will then be integrated into Syensqo’s carbon fiber-reinforced specialty polymer ECHO portfolio for applications in high-performance fields such as automotive structural parts, damping rings, and transmission components.

Carbon fiber composites, with their light weight and high strength, are increasingly widely used in aerospace, automotive, new energy and other fields. However, the waste generated in traditional production processes is difficult to degrade and has low recycling utilization rates, becoming a key bottleneck restricting the sustainable development of the industry. Vartega’s recycling technology enables efficient separation of carbon fiber waste and retention of performance, with the mechanical properties of recycled carbon fiber approaching that of virgin carbon fiber, solving the problem of significant performance degradation in traditional recycling processes.

Gabriel Molina, Director of Composite Materials Sustainable Development at Syensqo, stated: “We are thrilled to partner with Vartega to ensure that our carbon fiber waste finds a new life within our own product portfolio. This collaboration is an important step in our sustainability strategy, demonstrating the responsibility and commitment of advanced materials companies in promoting the circular economy.”

Todd Albers, Chief Executive Officer of Vartega, said: “The partnership with Syensqo is a significant milestone in the carbon fiber recycling field. Together, we will create a full-chain closed loop from waste recycling and regeneration to reapplication, providing a brand-new solution for the sustainable development of high-performance composites.”

This collaboration not only achieves high-value circular utilization of carbon fiber waste, reducing virgin carbon fiber consumption and carbon emissions, but also provides a replicable model for the sustainable development of the global carbon fiber industry. With the advancement of global carbon neutrality policies, the circular economy of carbon fiber composites will become an important trend in industry development. In the future, the two parties will further deepen cooperation, expand sources of recycled waste and application scenarios for recycled products, and promote the transformation and upgrading of the carbon fiber industry towards green, low-carbon, and circular development.
